In August, 2016, ACS member Birmingham-Southern College announced a new “test optional” admission policy, designed to give deserving students an alternative to admissions decisions based on standardized test scores. FairTest, a test optional advocacy group, reports that half of the liberal arts colleges ranked in the top 100 have now moved to such a policy in recent years. BSC joins other ACS colleges including Furman, Rollins, Sewanee, who are among hundreds of American colleges and universities to make this change.
