Andrew W. Mellon Faculty Renewal Program
Funded Proposals
First Round of Funded Proposals (Spring 2008)
In the first round of its new Faculty Renewal Grant Program, the consortium has made 24 grants, totaling over $100,000. Funding for this program has been provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and is made available in three categories: personal growth, leadership development and professional development. Funding for personal development could include proposals that prepare faculty for retirement and for making retirement a particularly productive experience. Funding is also available to prepare faculty for new leadership and decision-making roles on the campus. Grants for professional development are designed to assist faculty to become even more effective teachers.

For the next round of grants, pre-proposals will be due on October 1, 2008. For those whose pre-proposals are approved by the review committee, the final proposals will be due on January 15, 2009. Faculty are encouraged to read the various materials available and consider preparing a proposal for consideration. Proposals are accepted for individual and collaborative efforts at one institution or across several ACS institutions.
